Hot, Hot Hot . . .
I bet you thought I was going to talk about the weather?
No-habanero peppers is the subject for today. The ones shown here consist of unripe (green) and ripened (orange). These little guys are also very, very hot. In fact, I looked up how these peppers rank on the Scoville scale (which rates the “heat” factor). At the low end of the scale, at 100-900 are banana peppers and pimentos, while at 30,000 to 50,000 you find cayenne pepper and tabasco. Habanero peppers rank at 100,000 to 350,000. That is Hot! ( An FYI-at the high end of the scale at 1,500,000 to 2,000,000 is pepper spray used by law enforcement).
