Road Trip

A friend and I traveled to York, South Carolina, Monday to visit “La Bastide des Lavandes.” The owner, a transplant from southern France, has created his own piece of heaven out of the red Carolina clay and transformed it to a Mediterranean paradise. The lavender farm has, if I recall, 40 different types of lavender as well as a large number of other types of herbs and plants. It was quite a sight.

    • You would have found this quite interesting I think-the owner gives tours of the property and talks about how to create a Mediterranean garden in the South-there were a number of heavy-duty gardeners and I think one Master Gardener-the owner disagrees with some MG practices, so there was a bit of lively discussion as you can imagine!
