Back in Nebraska for the next couple of weeks-
One of my favorite stretches of the drive is the last 120 miles or so on Interstate 29. The landscape is primarily farms with a few stretches of industrial/agricultural processing plants. It also crosses in that short span of time three states: Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska. I have often scoped it out for possible photography spots, but the last few times was either in too much of a hurry or distracted to really stop. But this morning I did stop at certain points to make notes, and take a few shots. I plan to go back out again before I head back South.
I was happy that I did. Going out in the field as an architectural surveyor often presented plenty of opportunities to study the landscape as well as the buildings, and there were always plenty of picture-taking opportunities. I remember too as a graduate student going out on a regular basis in all kinds of weather to take photographs. It is a practice that I miss and hopefully this will prod me back into action.
