A Walk Back in Time
While in Omaha, one of my sisters and I went to the cemetery to take flowers for my parents’ grave. Forest Lawn Cemetery is a place we visited a lot when we were younger-it was located not far from where we grew up, and we often rode our bikes through its winding streets, which as you can imagine were generally pretty empty. There was at one point, a lagoon, which has since been filled in. The site is a wonderful blend of the rural and lawn park cemeteries with its rolling hills and many trees and plantings. The overall effect is pastoral and serene.
This image is from an area known as “Elks Rest,” a section of the cemetery set aside for people who belonged to that fraternal organization. The statue is on top of one of the higher hills and can be seen from many vantage points in the cemetery.

Great pic and I like the story!
Thanks Joan! It is a beautiful place with a lot to see.
This stunning. Love your editing.
Thank you Raewyn so much! The statue is really impressive and from his spot on the hill, he appears to be looking protectively over the grounds-
ditto Raewyn’s comment. Awesome!
Thank you so much Su for stopping by and looking-appreciate it!
A beauty …
He is, he is–it was a great find-
Wonderful image, great angle. I’m another one of those weirdos who love old cemeteries.
